Hey Grant,
Didn't mean to open up a kettle of fish with that one. My post was based on the thought that some may overtighten and strip the threads in the MDF, or attempt to use progessively larger screws over time. Since there shouldn't be a lot of weight or tension on the screws though, I suspect they may stay tight for quite a while after the initial instalation. I also was thinking about the use of a threaded insert and short bolts as an alternative.
