magnum dynalab signal strength meter

Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

I just bought a used FT101A Magnum Dynalab.
I note that the signal strength meter deflects in time with strong audio signals. The deflection occurs even with low volume control settings, so it isn't interaction with the system current draw.

Any thoughts?
