Hi, jcmusic!Do you have the name of that specialty auto shop (or is it "shoppe")?
I still have my white 1986 Toyota SR-5, which is the same body type featured in Jananese anime's huge "hit", "Initial D". It's called an "AE-86" overseas. Every so often, kids ask if it is for sale or sometimes people put pieces of paper under the wipers asking about its availability. I find this intriguing, since I am an original owner and still love the thing! Until about two years ago, I had no idea that the car was some sort of an 'icon' among teenage fans of anime, or "Initial D". So far, while taking the SR-5 out for a s pin, they have not called me "driftin' Ricky" !!
:-)
The SR-5 still fires up and drives well for something with 178K on an original motor. I use the SR-5 to pick up larger stuff at local flea markets or to take large electronics to Urban Ore for recycling.
Did that the other week with a load of useless stuff like Scott 4310's and a few Fisher FM-1000s.The other vehicle is a 2002 Ford Focus ZX-5.
I use the latter going to and from recording assignments on location.
The Toyota and Focus are not exactly what I would call "high end" nor does my wallet have a "deep bottom" to it!
But, it would be neat to know what that auto repair place is along University Avenue. I'm afraid that they would just laugh if I drove up!
Cheers!
