While I don't listen to much FM (but foolishly sold a Carver Tx-2 and bought the coveted TX-11b two years ago anyway)...I had a 3BX back in the 80s. It worked ok, but my main complaint was the pumping of tape hiss or background noise. Most of the music I listened to then was rock, so maybe too much dynamic range?
I remember in the 80s DAK catalogue sold a dBX decoder and dBX LPs! Apparently this was too late in the game to catch on, but it would've probably have worked great....until you get a pop => BANG!
