audiofan12345,,I live in a difficult FM area on the side of a hill - I have adirect line to some transmitters on mountians on the other side of the Valley, but the westside Los Angeles transmitters are over this hill.
As I'm "camping out" I don't have a way to have an outdoor antenna, but I've had very good results with teh indoor Godar Model 2 FM. this is like a low profile coffin-shaped anclosure about 4' long and is very directional. With my Revox B160, which has a 31 bar signal meter, the Godar added about 5 bars over my previous dipole. Results with the McIntosh MR77 are quite good also, but I notice I'm in a difficult recpetion area sometimes. My McIntosh MR67 is all orginal and needs tubes and alignments but when conditons are goos, the reception even with this out of spec all tube tuner as been very good.
Of course, an attic or outdoor with rotator will be much. much superior, but those are not usually options for the apartment dweller. For an indoor antenna, the Godar is quite impressive.
You may enjoy speaking with Mike Godar himself in AZ- he's friendly, super-knowledgable, can advise you, and may have a "special" going to buy directly.
Cheers,
Bambi B
