The whole idea is that I enjoyed the challenge of restoring and old bottom line tuner, and seeing how clever I could be about upgrading it's performance. Overall cost was on the low side - just mostly time over a period of 2 years off and on. The result does sound quite nice in a good system. I admire the sound of the old Sansui units, and can only imagine how good one of the upper units (like the TU-717) would be if all of the mods that I did were used.
