Faux Carbon Comp?

Some companies now produce carbon films that look exactly like comps, and they sell them as carbon comp. I had a very frustrating experience with resistors like that in a high-power RF amplifier a few years ago. Whichever brand you choose, I strongly suggest that you purchase a few and cut them open first, just to be sure they really have a carbon core. Also, if my information is correct, Xicon may be only a distributor. If so, the actual construction and materials in their parts could change with different suppliers.
