The amplifier is only part of the equation. The speaker enclosure is also important as it also provides damping that helps control the speaker. Smaller enclosures have less damping than larger enclosures. The speaker itself also has damping components. The surround and spider contribute to damping as does the magnetic circuit.The "correct" speaker enclosure design includes the amplifier's damping factor. This is why some speakers tend to sound better with tube amps (low damping) and others tend to sound better with solid state amps (high damping).
