You are correct.
A few years ago I knowingly took a chance and stupidly purchased a pair of used Grado sr-325 headphones, because they were the rare & old black aluminum version. It arrived with a raging case of "grattle" in one channel; this warrants a replacement driver and anyone who'd bothered to listen to the cans would have immediately noticed it. I didn't bother to take up a complaint, based on their terrible reputation (a futile fight) and the relatively low impact of the purchase - just cut my losses.
I also know an online acquaintance that had serious issues with a used Northstar amp purchased from them.
File them squarely under your "douchebag junk peddlers" folder.
