Thanks for posting this. Also, I would like to add a note about Private Bidder auctions. There are times when a Private Bidder auction is appropriate (ex. for items with an "adult" theme). However, for just about all other auctions, a Private Bidder auction should raise a RED FLAG.It's hard enough to determine shill bidding on Open Bidder auctions, but it can be done. Usually because of greed or stupidity (or both) by the seller. However, it's impossible to determine shill bidding on Private Bidder auctions. Do you think eBay "polices" shill bidding on Private Bidder auctions? NO WAY, they make more money on those auctions. I would bet that the percentage of shill bidding on Private Bidder auctions is AT LEAST 10 TIMES the percentage on Open Bidder auctions.
Just remember this: Private Bidder Auctions = License To Steal (except as noted above).
