The entire room would need to be looked at for things like; how much/type of furniture is there, are there bookcases, carpet, curtains for the window and etc before chosing acoustical materials. There are other issues like how close are the speakers to the listener and wall boundries. All that must be taken into account before a complete answer should be given and acoustical materials recommended but here I go anyway.Small room have shorter decay times by nature than larger rooms but they often have more specific needs like controlling strong reflections. Strong reflections are often best controled by thick fiberglass but limited to the area around the reflection. Diffusors can be placed at weak reflection points to redirect energy so it can be heard at a later time (creating a sense of space) but not lost to fiberglass. Diffusors, are usually weak absorbers. For example, an RPG Omni can be quite absorbtive if the face is covered with acoustical cloth. That's an easy way to make yourself a variable acoustical device. I also like the sound of rooms that have distrubuted narrow fiberglass panels around the room like ASC uses (Wall planks, sound panels) for an easy and affordable installation.
I believe you personally have had experience with fiberglass making things too dead while a wall was too harsh/reflective. The suggestion I gave for you was a RPG BAD panel at least 4" thick. I'm interested in whether you ever gave it a try.
