Re: More About Roger Russell's New Speakers.

This issue is brought up in regards to McIntosh demonstrations in Mr. Russell's article on "Speaker Wire, A History," which can be found on his site at the link below. You will note that he has a pretty good idea under what conditions differences in speaker cables are likely to be audible.

Since he doesn't claim that the special cables make an audible difference, I have no particular problem with it. After all, McIntosh was in the business of selling electronics and speakers and to do that to some extent one must provide the customers what they want. I do wish for a buying public knowledgeable enough that using prestigious wire would not be necessary. And McIntosh did try to educate people.

I have discussed this issue before on AR, and possibly it has been brought up before on this site.
