As you point out, the use of computational analysis for uniformly distributed models is wrought with issues. Unfortunately, the simplifying assumptions made to create simulations that work in reasonable timeframes are generally not known to the user, so the bounds within which the model must remain are unknown.Care must always be taken that the simulation is not being pushed outside the bounds, that produces good looking "garbage".
For recursive analysis, I just let the darn cpu run for hours. Yes, it can take days or weeks to assure one'self that the solution is stable and converges on reality, but that's a price.
Without even trying the freeware, I know the bounding assumptions are gonna give trouble. They all do. Been there, done that.
