Answer to Ted Smith's last question

In reference to the fact that I use about 10 feet of 16 gauge speaker cable for the left speaker and about 23 or so feet of 12 gauge cable for the right speaker, yes, I have used similar lengths of 12 gauge speaker cable for for both channels at times. However, I do not need anything like that length for the left channel, and it's a PITA to have to coil up the wire, much less to snake it (and what on earth would I want to do that for?). I did not wish to cut up the 12 gauge cable since I might need that length if we changed the location of the speakers. So I went down to Canadian Tire and got 50 feet of 16 gauge wire and cut off about 10 feet for the left channel. 16 gauge wire is so much easier to work with than 12 gauge is, too.

I have never noticed any difference in the sound either way that could be due to the speaker cables. With my current main speakers, which I have only had for a couple of weeks, I have only used the present configuration and really, I see no reason to try the other unless we change the equipment around again.

I have nothing against overkill in audio equipment, and actually, my speaker cables are already better than they need to be.
