There are very few real "Class A" amps out there. Very Few. Given a the typical hard biased AB designs they will start drawing more power from the AC line from starting at 1-2 watts. Others maybe higher but not much higher.
You might want to get a Killawatt meter and go from there, they're pretty good for 28.00.
