The current drawn from the supply is complex.The amp current actually comes from the reservoir caps. These are topped up whenever (ie every cycle) their voltage tries to fall below that available from the transformer / rectifiers.
Thus there are very brief and potentially very high current pulses every cycle dependent upon a whole bunch of variables.
Apart from that, it is easy.
