While I don't agree with your reasoning, let me point out that RR's only just recently bought back the rights to their recordings. Sheffield, well, Doug Sax left years ago, and I haven't heard much from them recently. I don't think even Lincoln Mayorga is associated with them anymore.
Hell, MP-3 is great because it is FREE! You can't make money selling something when you can get it elsewhere for free.
The fact is the masses care more about convenience than quality. A DVD disc has more than enough space for 24/96 or even 192kHz audio. SACD is not succeeding, nor is DVD-A. Both formats are significantly superior to CD. My guess is that you have not chosen to adopt them, either. HD-DVD and Blu Ray address only the problem of high resolution video and ignore the audio portion (I guess DTS is good enough for video). Again, it just goes to show the mass market is not concerned with quality. It's really a McDonald's world we live in.Stu
