Evidence it’s probably phony and deceptive marketing

11 pages of gibberish in their “white paper”, but slyly they never say what their “articulation response” measure really is. This claimed break-through technology is probably phony because:

1 – They say that “articulation response” is a “system’s ability to articulate speech”. They go on to say that traditionally Bell Labs and everyone else has to use sophisticated listening tests to measure articulation. That part is true: I work speech research and listening tests are only way we know how to measure speech articulation.

However in their “white paper”, MIT claims to have invented a way to measure speech articulation “objectively” and automatically WITHOUT any listening tests. Not only that, this amazing measurement is so accurate and sensitive that it can even detect the effect that internal copper wiring has on speech intelligibility! Wow!

This would be an earth-shattering discovery - if it were true. Believe me, this amazing invention would be licensed to every speech recognition system and research lab in the world. My company would pay big buck for this.

But alas (like Bybee, Kait, Belt, etc.), instead of capitalizing on their great invention to improve the world and make money, MIT chooses instead to apply this amazing discovery to exclusively helping a tiny self-centered obsessive group of audiophiles to improve the sound of their audio systems :-(

2 –Bruce A.. Brisson, the inventor of this amazing technology is totally unknown outside of his company. It’s unheard that someone could invent speech technology this greatly advanced and NEVER publish, exchange ideas with peers, make his discoveries and inventions available for peer review, etc. Google has nothing on this anazing inventor.

Mr. Brisson (like Bybee, Kait, Belt, etc.) was able to make this earth shattering invention all alone without any outside help. And even after, he chooses not to exploit his invention to get the rewards and recognition he deserves.
