Welcome to the world of pro-sumer audio!
As servojohn pointed out you generally get what you pay for.
That the Wheatstone is somewhat better then the Numark may have something to do
that an 8 channel Wheatstone retails for nearly $5000!The sad truth is that for the money charged by Numark and Behringer audio quality just
simply does not appear in the equation at all! Its features and price above all else.
Denon probably spends more on the implementation of pitch control (neither cheap nor easy in the digital realm) then the entire Numark player costs. That said this type of kit has its uses, for instance if s.o. needs to practice their dj skills with little outlay but the moment audio quality comes into it expect to pay substantially more or pay a bit more and loose some features.
Also (I am generalizing) if it looks like it is 'designed to appeal to kids and wanna-be club DJ's' it more then likey is. Most quality pro gear is fairly unassuming in its looks.
As for speakers I'd recommend small active monitors like the ones made by Dynaudio or Genelec for at home. As for dj mixers Allen&Heath make some reasonably priced good sounding ones or try and get a s/h radio console if you are happy to use those. For soundquality and price that would be hard to beat. Proper pro kit is built like the proverbial tank and sometimes dirt cheap to pick up of ebay or other sources.
Especially radio consoles as there is only a very limited market for it. Hey I googled
'Wheatstone' and straight away found a few s/h ones starting at $300!
