I will certainly wire up the Zero’s in the same way that you have but I will leave it until I have completed the crossover mods first. I wonder if the separation that the two transformers get by being hooked up this way other than the actual 2x / 2.75x ratio will help the impedance curve. Perhaps Paul can help with the theory on this.

I am running my A3’s +3 for the base and +3 for the mids, the brilliance control is set just past 12.00. I use a Z Systems RDP1 equaliser between my Transport and Dac and to help me set it up correctly I use an electret microphone hooked up to my computer via a dedicated microphone preamp. I use some software that works in real-time and input one of the channels with white noise. The midrange dip that Kevin discusses is definitely their. It lays between 100Hz and 700Hz, also the treble rolls off from about 5kHz. The brilliance control adjusts from about 1kHz and seems to have a linear response. I used my RDP1 equalizer to take out these dips, the changes it made to the sound was Mega. I think that the mods that Kevin made to the crossover points are essential. I will making the changes to remove the midrange dip.

I already have Polystyrene caps on order so it’s a zillion connections for me, at least their is stacks of room available in the base of the speaker to hide all this away, Zeros and all.

I am sure you are correct about the grill cloth. Mine also have the Off White Linen. This was a plus point for my wife though. I think I will leave the dust to settle if you know what I mean. I may upgrade the panels in the future as mine are quite old by which time these speakers will have become part of the furniture and any grill cloth changes will be easier to slip in.

I have emailed Roger West about the new components used. Hopefully he will give me some values. I will keep you posted.
