My living/listening room is 22' X 15' X 9'. Speakers are along one of the 15-foot walls, about 4 feet forward and and about 18inches from the side walls, toed in a bit. This is how I positioned my previous Sound Lab U2s. As I stated, the M1s have not arrived and the U2s are long gone (but not too far away; a neighbor bought them). Our fairly large house has a separate "family room" which houses the TV, so the LR is "dedicated" to audio. I loved the U2s dearly; I only hope that the M1s are even better. I empirically purchased the new kit from Sound Lab which (when installed) increases the impedance at mid-range frequencies, by adding an inductor which I am guessing is run in parallel with the input of the hi-pass filter to the toroidal treble transformer in the SLs. It occurs to me that depending on the value of the inductance, this could increase the slope of the hi-pass filter from first order (6db/octave) to second order (12db/octave), not necessarily a "good" thing. But others who have modified the spkrs report that OTLs work a lot better. I wonder if Ralph has any listening experience or comment.
