I have now settled on using 12SL7 in V1/V2 in my quest for a bit more gain.
Paul suggested I try reversing the current doubling exersise he suggested some time ago by series connecting the extra resistors in the cascode top and tail,this ( by ear seemed to give a little more gain )but I now suspect this effect is more due to a more "dynamic" sound.
I really like this new setup,but more so the cost,or lack of it,by not wearing out my stocks of 12SX7.
Next tryout is a set of BL7s in my all tube SLCF.
