Variable Hum from M-60MkII's

0

I noticed that a low level hum that I occasionally get through my speakers dissappears when I hook up my digital multimeter to adjust balance and bias. This happens both with the speakers hooked up and disconnected. I am using Mark Gilmor's B and B technique. Anybody have any idea what is at play here and any insights as to what might be causing the hum that the meter can eliminate by being in series with the output circuit? The hum is fairly low in frequency. the amps are just breaking in and sound quite good with only about 10 hours on them. Thanks for anybody's comments!
