Gentlemen (DK and AL), there is no need for such vitriole. It's quite possible that if AL did not realize that he overpaid for his 6SN7W black-base tubes, he also did not realize that his asking price is too high. In other words, AL may be making an innocent mistake in asking so much money for them. But, AL, your story IS a little suspect. If you paid $148 plus shipping, why not just try to recover your expense? And if the tubes are "unused, NOS", then how do you know anything about their sonics, and why sell them without auditioning them, especially since you are bound to take a loss? Just wondering. Just by chance, I auditioned a pair of these tubes in the linestage of my Lumincescence pre-amp (driving a pair of Atma-sphere MA240s) just this weekend. (I paid ca $50-$60 for the pair off eBay, I think.) This is a very nice-sounding tube, indeed. Anyway, the vendor who sold the tubes to AL would seem to be the more deserving target for anger.
