In my direct experience, I have found Vishay S-102s, Caddock TF020, HOLCO, and Roederstein all to be excellent; yet they each impart a very slightly different sonic signature. I found the differences to be much more evident in my pre-amp than in my Atma amps. IMO, the Roeders are a "best buy". One would not feel dissatisfied with Roeders alone. The Caddocks are superior though, by being uncannily neutral (slightly less of an "edge" compared to Roeders), and the Vishays are even a little better, mostly in the upper end of the spectrum, where they sound even smoother and more extended. HOLCOs give one a glimpse of the best qualities of Caddocks and Vishays at a fraction of the price, provided you don't hit them with high voltages. Have any of you guys tried tantalum resistors, beloved of the SE bunch? I'm curious.
