Sorry if this isn't about the Omega Super 3i's, but I think what I have to say might be tangentially relevant.
I noticed this thread after I pulled my Omega Super alnico HO monitors (R-compound option and Ebony Macassar/Bird's eye maple veneer) out of my main system and swapped them with my humble DIY Econowaves (Dayton Audio D250P with Dayton Audio waveguides/Advent woofers in a Large Advent cabinet). I agree with the consensus about the Omega's lean presentation--and mine are most likely less lean than most of Omega's other models, I imagine. They're now my $3500 TV speakers. Driven by a Darling SET amp, no less. Ugh. Dialog is crystal-clear, you can bet!
Louis (great guy, as is universally attested) suggested I might want to try a pair of his Deep Hemp subs, and I demurred, since there's no way I can be sure that I'd be satisfied after spending another couple of grand. My Omegas do so much so well, but in the end, I'm dissatisfied with them because of their lack of involving mid- and upper-bass, or at least I suspect that's the main reason. And of course horns are more dynamic, so that's a plus, too. The Econowaves, driven by a First Watt F4, sounds so much more musically involving to me, especially after extended listening sessions.
I'm not selling or giving up on my Omegas. I can imagine taking them to a higher level, but I'd probably need to DIY a bass solution. But I'm more likely to build an even ballsier version of my Econowaves first.
