thanks Willie - - I found samples on Amazon - reminds me somewhat of Monk Montgomery's lead bass work. Steve Clark's "Solo Drums" (more a rock drummer than Jazz - but good) is a good test of dynamics. I like old school jazz drums - Bellson, Jo Jones stuff - old school bass with groove/walking function, no round wound stings, no snappy poppy clickity stuff - but do love slapped & bowed upright bass

Buddy Rich probably would not give Clarke a very good grade starting with matched grips ;^)

this album is nothing but drums - real time - no overdubs
- two solos around 19 minutes each
