There is nothing like front horns, they are easy to place (in the corners even) and sound great!
Having a room in the back is wonderfull for an infinite bafle subwoofer

Just put your sub on the wall and from there use a couple of midbass front horns!
If you are really a gifted woodworker you can take up this challenge, a 150 hz Tactrix front horn with and 8" midbass driver (I use a 10" myself):

This wiil get you up to 1khz, from there you just put an 811 horn or build yourself a 500hz barrel horn like this one:

Slap a GPA or Beyma 1 inch compression driver on that and you will not believe your ears....
This will kill almost any Altec speaker system (unless you go for a huge movie system) and mainly any other speaker out there!!!!
