Paul---I've owned Klipsch in the past---LaScalas, Cornwalls and Hereseys. Of the three the only one I still consider a good speaker is the Cornwall. But when I was young and dumb I liked LaScalas a great deal.
I'm very keen on Altecs, I have four Altec hi-fis going. One uses Model Nineteens, one uses 890C Boleros, one uses Heath AS-21s (Altec 9844 monitorss in furniture cabinets) and one uses 605As. These are all old speakers though, the newest are the Nineteens and they were made in 1976.
If y'all can get up to Lexington Ky you can hear them.
That said I must say that the Klipsch Heritage speakers have formidable virtues---outstanding clarity and dynamics. But they have a burr to them in the mids that raises my hackles, what I call "earwire". The better bass and more robust tonal balance of the Khorn and Cornwall smooth over this roughness but the bass shy LaScala and Heresey really put this skilsaw quality out front.
My opinions ya understand.
