Home Headphone Heights

Welcome to Headphone Heights, the place for all your ear bud discussion

I've used anywhere from 3 watts to 125 watts

Lambda with SRD-7 (normal bias, not "pro" bias) will run with a wide range of "watts," but those transformers are high-ratio and fairly small, so after a certain point, the limiting factor will be the transformer.

Unless you REALLy crank the volume, which is not advised for headphone listening, I've had best sounds with 3 watt 2A3 SET if not played too loudly. 5 watt single-ended pentode also drives the transformer well. Perhaps the most hassle-free, bang-for-buck good sound is via good gainclones.

Just hook up the transformer to power amp you currently have and see what happens. Preamps and normal headphone amps will not work.
