Frank, thank you for your review, it kicked me over the edge and I placed my order on the 17th... My HE500's arrived today and they are truly special driven by my Van Alstine Super PAS 3i preamp. I have plans to drive them with my Bottlehead 300B Paramounts for the tubed experience. Indeed, just out of the box they sound great! I can't wait to finish breaking them in.
