This is going to be an interesting week for me. I'm getting my older Madonna used CD albums this Friday and Saturday and I'll be ripping them using LAME 3.9.9 --preset-insane 320 Kbps bit rate MP3s. Then, I'll upload them to my Google Play Music account and my CrashPlan+ account too. I'm not so much interested in the AKG K 702 as with my current Etymotic ER-4PT/S because they provide 42 dB of passive sound isolation and they are extremely accurate. I'm in an audio bliss right now.
In about three months, I plan to get the AKG K3003i from HeadRoom Corporation. These are ultra high end universal IEMs and I want to stick with the AKG house brand. I tend to be very brand loyal. I have the Etymotic ear plugs, ETY-COM, EtyBlu2, and ER-4PT/S products. I will have the AKG K 702 this Friday. I want to complete the collection with the AKG K3003i. I'm also thinking about getting the Meridian Explorer, but I'm not so sure if it will work well with my System76 Lemur Ultra Thin (lemu4) with Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit GNU/Linux. I'm thinking that I need to wait for Raring Ringtail to be shipped because it comes with ALSA 1.0.32 which the ME requires along with Linux kernel 2.6+. It seems to have such high end requirements probably because it supports 24 bit 192 kHz resolution.
I have 14,751 MP3 tracks. It's a lot of songs, but they're just MP3s at 320 Kbps bit rate. I doubt that I need the ME product, but it's interesting to note it's coverage by the press and on the discussion forums here and elsewhere. It's the hottest product to get right now.
I will chat later.
