Any Grado GS1000 users? Portable amp/DAC recommendation wanted

Since I'm between houses, I can't use my main system, and just got a pair of GS1000i to enjoy music. At the moment, I'm using them straight out of my Macbook with good results. Honestly I can live with this set-up.

But is there any small form usb amp+DAC which would actually would improve on the Macbook output (and I don't mean 5%, I mean really improve) for around $400 or less? If so, please don't hesitate to share your experience/suggestions.
