RE: Excellent story

My timeline was off and I knew it as I posted but figured correcting it would be immaterial. IIRC, the last DitV was around '97 or '98 and in any event was well after the acquisition. The point remains the same; the ownership had no taste for dealing with a good idea that had become overgrown, burdensome, and the subject of snipes by the customers. I remember it well; I naturally was one of the vocal snipers. I posted on a popular wine board at the time that after what had become a rather moribund lunch and tasting, customers were huddled and crouching under low lying bushes trying to avoid the searing sun for what seemed like an hour while waiting for Paul Draper to give away a few mags of Geyserville, Lytton Springs, and Monte Bello.
