I have to laugh when some guy starts a website claiming his DACS are the best in the world and better than $20,000 ones "even though he says he hasn't heard the best Japanese ones" - Sorry but that is just laughable. No engineering background in his "about me" section and it all seems a bit like a shuckster to me.

I met a guy who made silver cables in his garage - had a sexy website and claimed such things that his were better value. No engineering background - he simply had a silk screen company put his logo on and he had a desk and soldering iron. Meanwhile some Japanese guys with metallurgical degrees and who actually age annealed the silver instead of using a chemical (which to cable gurus is the real deal) actually had some credibility.

This guys says he will put his reputation on the line - but when you have NO REPUTATION at all then putting it on the line means nothing. I can beat Mike Tyson and put my reputation on the line - but I have no boxing creed so who cares.

Others will be the judge of where his DAC stands not him. Having said that it may be quite good - it uses 300Bs and has some interesting things - but it's not a zero times sampling DAC from what I can tell - and frankly the Audio Note's pretty much see everything that isn't off. Zanden sounds organic too but it's zero times oversampling and seems to copy Audio Note. Emm Labs is pretty good too but at $20,000 the question is does it really but a Dac 2.1 sig? And by beat what do we really mean by that. Some stereos have an over processed kind of sound - dry clinical and spitty which can come across as more detailed and on first listen can sound a little more "accurate" since we fall for audio cues especially in the treble where if we hear more treble we assume it must be more accurate. Over time we're better able to recognize it as dry and grainy and not accurate at all but a lot of comparisons are not done over time.

But I keep an open mind - I would love to do a head to head comparison of his best DAC versus say a similarly priced Audio Note DAC - 3.1 Balanced Sig?
