RE: AN DAC 3.1/4.1 versus the competition

Hi there, I have a Dac 2.1 and it knocks spots of the W4S and Benchmarks, different league altogether. I also preferred it to a Metric Halo ULN8 although it was a close run thing.

The Weiss Dac2 is very good, but here is the thing. Using a Weiss INT202 Firewire/SPIDF interface the Audio Note may not quite have the resolution of the Weiss but it has more musicality, midrange and treble are exquisite - I listen a lot of female vocals, so a big issue.

Usually I use the Audio Note with a humble M2Tech Hiface with BNC interconnects and they pair very well. I am sure the Evo is better just have not got round to that yet.

Frankly for the money, fun and sense of involvement they can't be beat. They are massively upgradeable as well.

Finally the Audio Dacs you are looking at are a notch above my 2.1, so I would expect even better results. Looking back on my many purchases in the mad world of audiophilia the Audio Note stands head and shoulders above anything I have ever bought for value and performance.
