I've also used the AN Silvers and VH CUTF caps in the line board coupling capacity in both my AN DAC and L3 and surprisingly (to me) I've not been completely satisfied with either. I keep coming back to the AN coppers but will likely audition others along the way. My system is in transition as I'm about to introduce a pair of AN 300B PSE kit monoblocks with AN opt transformers and a few other mods into the mix. After awhile there starts to be a lot of variables to potentially tweak regarding caps, wire, tubes, etc. so I suspect it will be awhile before I land on what is most musically satisfying to me . . .
I'm not sure describing my perception of the "sound" of these caps in my system with all the other variables in play will be much use. I was surprised that the silvers IME were a bit "thin" sounding compared to the coppers which seemed better overall tonally balanced in my set-up. While I liked aspects of the CuTFs and may try them again in my DAC (whether they stay there is another story)-- the Teflons (and I prefer the VH CUTF to the TFTF) "sound" very open and transparent but seem to lack a bit of emotional engagement and are less "textured" IME (my brain seems to be more distracted/aware (apparently an oxymoron) I'm listening to music as opposed to just enjoying the emotional/visceral experience . . .a system that activates my limbic brain is clearly where my listening priorities are). . . (I can't find my notes at the moment I took while comparing these two caps). I fully recognize others consider these caps the holy grail of capacitance which of course is great for them, in fact I wish I could find my own holy grail before my bank balance is non-existent. . .:-) Clearly, its a synergy thing in play in which the Gestalt is more important than any particular component. . .
It's been an expensive experiment but like I said I'm not sure where I will eventually land once my monoblocks are in my system, and some speaker changes I'm pursuing are complete (like I said my system is in transition . . .:-)
Not sure if this is helpful but I have tended for the most part after some initial forays into the Mundorf tubecaps world (a few caps in the PS) to stay closer to the AN products but I'm also interested in experimenting with a variety of different components/manufacturers and keeping whatever is most satisfying to me for the long haul.
I haven't experimented much with replacing C1 and C8 in the M2 PS to really comment as it was too long ago. I currently use the AN coppers in these two positions with good results. . .
Good luck, hopefully some others will chime in with their experiences. . .
