Hi Mitch2,
Reading through my earlier comments I realise I did not go far enough.
Should I use words like stonking, awesome, the best I have heard at any price? Yes and a lot above and beyond that.
But to get down to practicalities I missed out the treble, and the remote function.
The treble surprises me constantly. I expected a soft rounded off sound. This is not the case.
The treble just goes higher and clearer never harsh or sickly sweet. It encourages a real instrument experience that occasionally startles me, as instruments were here in front of me in the room.
I am used to going to classical concerts and know what live sound is like. This amp gives the best that the recording engineer has managed.
Now the remote.
I like the positive numbered volume control. It works just like a switched control, not sliding but rather accurate steps. The jumps in volume are about right in my view. Enough to hear just the right amount of up, at each step. I quickly found the numbers I prefer at different volume levels and go straight to them. As pointed out by Brian this is an obvious upgrade point just changing the resistors at my favourite volumes only.
The channel changes are the same, solid and immediate.
What is different from other remotes is a small delay is built in on switching on the amp., while the valves kick in. During this delay the readout diplays L3 (flashing) changing to the selection you last had. Yes this remembers where you were last time both in selection and volume. These events are seconds only.
I hope this answere a little bit better than my previous comments
Best wishes to all.
Neil
