Simply because I preferred the sound, seemed crisper and more dynamic.

There are those who state than SPIDF was designed as 75 Ohm format and should stay that way, unlike balanced analogue audio feeds.

I am not an expert so I have to use my ears! It is possible the source was to blame, YMMV.
