It depends on the definition of "drop-in". The CS8415A is SOIC or TSSOP, not DIP, and it has a different pinout. It takes additional logic to make it functionally compatible and only if the chip and additional logic are mounted on a DIP header, as I have done, can be considered a "drop-in" replacement.
