I have owned an old L2(7-8 years ago) and I liked it very much.
I've also had the L3 a couple of times,but didn't get to compare side by side.
They seem today to have the same power supply,and the main difference that makes for the higher price is the output transformers in L3.
L3 uses the 5687 tube where the signal is amplified 2 times,versus the L2 that uses 12AU7 tubes and I think(not quite sure)that they are coupled paralell and signal only amplified once.Paralell out should give a fun quality to the bassperfomance.
You probably will find comments about comparsion between the 2 if you search this forum.
Its difficult to give advice what YOU should choose;-) ,but on most areas I think the L3 sounds more natural,maybe all areas.But my guess,and this is a little bit of a guess,if you listen mainly to music where a lot is going on,and not so well recorded heavier rock aso ,it might be that the L2 is equally exciting to listen to......
