Thanks for sharing your experiences with different tubes and sourcing strategies. This gives RGA and myself some options without going to an all-NOS set, like I slowly got together. I could try some of your strategies to experiment. Yeah, I found getting the tubes on ebay a bit dodgy, though they really did work out except for the one ECC82 that sounds a bit off right now. Pacific TV has testing equipment which I don't have, so he's a valuable resource to me even that way. Yes, I wonder about the interaction of the tubes with all the different cables etc.
I have lexus cables, though long runs and believe I have lost a lot of warmth for that reason-and ANV interconnects. I have gone to hemp drivers that are just finally breaking in. You'd wonder how changing the caps would to the tube-sound interaction as well.
