what dac do you have? the finished product or the kit version?
I believe if the DAC put out more than 2v, the kit1 can be overdriven. I had terrible overdriven problem with the DAC One.1X, swapping resistors usually work, but never sounded quite right.
recently I purchased and built the DAC kit 2.1, no such problem.
