Kit 1 with too much gain

my dac1 seems to be overdriving my kit 1 amp, I have reduced the value of the I/V resistors on the digital board down to 220ohm but it is not quite enough and it seems to have other negative effects on the sound if I reduce it further so I would like to increase it again. I thought about changing the ratio of the potential divider R5/R4 and R6/R7 (10k/470k) on the input of the amp to attenuate the signal at this point. Can anyone think of a reason not to try this or perhaps there is a better way?
