First off! Make sure both tubes are drawing current. Measure the current from the cathode of each tube to ground. If you get a reading of about 9MA then you are fine. 222 is close enough. You have to account for power tranny differences and AC outlet differences as well as parts value tolerances. If you want more flexibility in lowering your voltage with the pot then put in a larger dropping resistor on the B+. Don't make the plate resisitor larger(pins 1 and 6). That affects the operation of the tube and the gain in comparison to the cathode resistor. The resistors I am talking about are in the power supply leading up to the resisitors connecting to pins 1 and 6. If you are getting the filaments to light up and nothing smells funny or blows a fuse, give it a go. You might like what you hear.
