But if you're looking for a technical answer, you probably should have posted this in Tube/DIY, or at the very least, the Tubes Asylum. The tech minded guys may find it here eventually, but the header for this Asylum reads, "Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.", and the "over here" link takes you to the Tube Asylum.
