during last 3 decades used to have ( and still own ) various Quad speakers and electronics:
1. esl63s (988,2805) sound fine with 306 (better then 606), slightly better with 909 (BUT with removed Quad link board,otherwise worser then 306).
2. all pre-amps with remote (66,99) are not enough transparent. The 34 is better!
For me the 34/306 combo is no brainer!
