RE: Magnepan 1.7 Disaster

The second pic shows a common situation. Providing the glue is holding where the ribbon-wire meets the mylar, those "bows" won't cause any issues. Still, it's disappointing in a new speaker! :-((

But I don't think you can "repair" the wire cut shown in pic 1. That bass driver needs to be re-laid. The trouble is, trying to solder some more ribbon-wire at that place, to bridge the gap, inevitably means you will damage the mylar with the melted solder.

You have several choices:
1. order the repair kit from Magnepan and DIY.
2. send the speaker to your country's Magnepan importer, who will be able to do it.
3. send the speaker back to the factory.
