I don't know anything about the receiver, but I'm guessing there must be some setting for the input you're using. Review your manual and see if you can set it to standard or something (?). I looked at the manual online quickly but couldn't find anything. Is the receiver new? If so call the salesman you bought it from. Hopefully he knows what he sells. :)
Can you try a mini-to-RCA splitter instead into a standard input on the rear of the unit? This way you'd be able to narrow it down further.
