My pre-amp is next up for upgrade and I would like to try the Emotiva but I like to have tone controls on my pre-amp. Their USP-1 does not have them and from what I am hearing, their soon to be released XSP-1 will not have them either. I had started a thread about this over at the Emo forums. The consensus seems to be to wait and see what the XSP-1 ends up being because they have not posted "official" specs/features just yet. If they don't offer tone controls I will have to go elsewhere because for me that is a deal breaker. I really like the way that Parasound approaches this in their P3. They have tone controls(that can be defeated) but they also provide several inputs that are completely "direct" and outside the tone controls and the bypass circuit. This seems like the most flexible design and should satisfy the most people. So I have decided I will be upgrading my pre-amp but I don't know with what just yet.
